India’s top 3 shined bright in the first ODI that happened in Guwahati. Shubhman Gill scored 70 and Rohit Sharma batted with free flow and scored 83 in quick time scoring 143 for the first wicket. Virat Kohli scored his 73rd international ton and dominated the proceedings. He scored 113 runs in just 87 balls. As a result, India put in a massive total of 373 runs.

Chasing a mammoth total, Sri Lanka was never in the chase. Sri Lanka started on a positive note though but Mohammed Siraj took two wickets in quick succession and pegged SL back. Pathum Nissanka and Dhananjaya de Silva have batted with positive intent but haven’t gotten a big score. However, Dasun Shanaka stood tall amid the SL middle-order collapse. He scored a free-flowing century and scored 91 runs in the century partnership with Kasun Rajitha.

Overall, India managed a big win with 67 runs in the first ODI.
