For the upcoming Presidential election race, the ruling NDA has picked up the Presidential candidate. A tribal leader from Odisha, Droupadi Murmu has been elected for the Presidential candidature. With the ruling party having enough support, it is evident that the ST candidate will become the next President of India. Party chief JP Nadda has made the announcement the other day. The committee that was supposed to pick the Presidential candidate has observed 20 names and shortlisted a few names.
Later, BJP top leaders had a high-level meeting and finalized Droupadi Murmu’s name. Nadda on this occasion has said that a tribal candidate hasn’t served as the President of India. Narendra Modi tweeted, “Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji has devoted her life to serving society and empowering the poor, downtrodden as well as marginalized. She has rich administrative experience and had an outstanding gubernatorial tenure. I am confident she will be a great President of our nation.”
Earlier in the day, the oppositions collectively announced Yashwant Sinha for the post. The elections will be held on July 18th.
