The Central Bureau of Investigation conducted an investigation in as many as 25 locations in connection with a case of coins worth Rs. 11 Crores missing from the vault of an SBI branch in Karauli in Rajasthan. Following an order from the Rajasthan High Court, CBI registered the case on April 13th. The searches by CBI spread across Delhi, Jaipur, Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Alwar, Udaipur, and Bhilwara which are the premises of the 15 bank officials and others.

In August 2021, a preliminary inquiry indicated a discrepancy in its cash reserve and after counting the money, the incident came to light. The counting of the money was outsourced to a private firm that reported missing Rs. 11 Crores in coins. Following this, an FIR was filed at Todabhim Police Station In Karauli.

The FIR was lodged under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant or by banker, merchant or agent, etc.), and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
