Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA. According to reports, people from around 180 countries will participate in this Yoga Day event. The event will be held on June 21 on the occasion of International Yoga Day. This is the 9th edition of Yoga Day which started back in 2015. It is reported that along with Prime Minister Modi, dignitaries like diplomats, artists, academics, etc. will participate in this event.
Preparations for this event are currently underway at the lawns of the United Nations headquarters in New York City. This is the first time that the Yoga Day is being observed abroad. All these years, though Yoga Day has been celebrated around the world, the main ceremony used to be conducted in one of the main cities in India.
According to the UN, the timing for Yoga Day 2023 celebrations at the lawns in the global body’s headquarters is 8 am-9 am EST (5:30 pm-6:30 pm IST).
