Kakinada’s Mudragada Padmanabham, a Kapu leader and former minister, challenged Pawan Kalyan, the Jana Sena chief contesting in Pithapuram Assembly, stating he would change his surname to Reddy if Pawan Kalyan wins. He expressed disappointment that Pawan Kalyan didn’t support the Kapu community’s reservation agitation and criticized him for contesting in Pithapuram, calling it a small town.
Mudragada also accused N Chandrababu Naidu of the Tuni train arson incident and mentioned inviting both Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan for alliance talks before the election, which were postponed for over 15 days. Due to this, he joined the YSRCP and has since worked for the party’s improvement without expecting any position.
