Why CBI-ED action is not happening in BJP ruled states?: Bhupesh Baghel

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel has questioned why the ED, Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate are not conducting raids in states like Karnataka against the leaders of opposition parties.

He said, “If corruption has happened, action should be taken even if it happened in any state, but this action is being taken only in the identified states and not in the states ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party.”

Referring to the seizure of crores of rupees in cash from a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA in Karnataka, Bhupesh Baghel said, “Eight crores were seized from an MLA in Karnataka, so why is the ED not raiding there?”

On March 3, the Lokayukta police in Karnataka made BJP MLA K Madal Virupakakshappa and his son prime accused in a corruption case. The Lokayukta police had recovered more than Rs 10 crore in raids at their locations.

Referring to the action taken by the Assam Police against Congress leader Pawan Kheda in the past, Bhupesh Baghel asked whether all the instalments of Himant Biswa Sarma were over?

On the CBI-ED raids, he said, “No one will point a finger at you if you show the same promptness in your own states as you (BJP) show in other states.”

On Friday, the Enforcement Directorate raided the locations of some RJD leaders in several cities of Bihar in connection with the alleged land for job scam. In this case, the Central Bureau of Investigation had recently questioned Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Chief Minister Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi.
