International Yoga Day is being celebrated today across the world and in India. The day will be celebrated across 75 heritage and iconic sites in the country. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has led the celebrations from Mysuru. The idea of Yoga day was proposed by Narendra Modi for the first time in 2014. The day is celebrated the next year and this day has got the recognition by United Nations.
Narendra Modi participated in the 45-minute demonstration during the celebrations. President Ram Nath Kovind on this occasion tweeted, “Yoga is a part of our ancient Indian heritage. India’s gift to humanity, it is a holistic approach to health and well-being, balancing our mind, body, and soul. I urge everyone to make Yoga a part of your daily life & experience its benefits.”
PM Narendra Modi said that “This whole universe starts from our own body and soul. The universe starts from us. And, Yoga makes us conscious of everything within us and builds a sense of awareness”.
