Mani Ratnam‘s dream project Ponniyin Selvan-1 is shattering records. The film has done average business in the Telugu States and in the Hindi version as well. But it turned out gold for the Tamil version. PS-1 has collected more than Rs. 400 Cr gross and became the second-highest-grossed Tamil flick standing next to Shankar’s 2.0.
It has today crossed Vikram’s lifetime collections and emerged as the highest-collected Tamil movie this year. In the USA, the movie has crossed $6 Million which is the highest for a Tamil movie. For the Telugu version, the movie has collected Rs. 12 Cr.
Ponniyin Selvan is a historical drama based on the rule of Cholas. Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, and others have played crucial roles. There are two more flicks based on the novel Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan.
