It is a huge setback for Team India ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 as the head coach Rahul Dravid has tested COVID positive. With this development, his participation in the Asia Cup is in doubt. The official statement from BCCI reads, “Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team’s departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022. Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms.”
Rahul Dravid will join the team once he tests COVID negative. The team will assemble in UAE on 23rd August 2022. Asia Cup will start on the 27th of this month. India will start its hunt for the title against Pakistan on 28th August.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and other seniors who got rested for the recent Zimbabwe tour will return to the playing XI.
