India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first test against Australia that happened in Nagpur.
While bowling the innings 46th over in the first innings, cameras panned toward Jadeja who took a substance from Siraj and applied it to his hands. Upon investigation, both captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja updated it as the hand cream applied for his sore finger. Still, as he did not take the permission of the umpires, he was found to have breached Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
In addition to the fine, one demerit point has been added to Jadeja’s disciplinary record. Jadeja admitted the offense and accepted the sanction. Ravindra Jadeja upon his return to international cricket after more than five months picked up 7 wickets in the match and scored a crucial 70.
