It is very well known that large-scale layoffs have started in META, the parental company of Facebook. As many as 11,000 employees will be given termination letters. META has already announced that it is going to lay off 11,000 employees or 13% of its employees. CEO Mark Zuckerberg understood the visa problems layoffs bring.

“This is a difficult time especially if you are working on a visa,” apart from acknowledging this, Mark Zuckerberg has also extended support for those impacted by the layoffs. This US-based technological company hires a large amount of H1-B visa holders and needless to say the majority of them are from India.

Mark stated that these layoffs are some of the most difficult changes they’ve made in META history. Facebook has also announced other supportive measures like severance pay for 16 weeks of base pay plus two additional weeks for every year of service and also three months of career support with an external vendor.
