Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has resigned from his post. He has submitted his resignation to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. A family member from the Rajapaksa family has revealed to the media that Mahinda Rajapaksa has resigned.
The resignation came after Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa tweeted condemning the violent acts. He tweeted, “Strongly condemn the violent acts taking place by those inciting & participating, irrespective of political allegiances. Violence won’t solve the current problems. I request all citizens to remain calm & exercise restraint. I urge everyone to work together in solving this crisis.”
After Mahinda’s resignation, it is to be seen whether the President will accept the resignation or not. It is learned that Mahinda Rajapaksa’s resignation came after the disturbances caused by Sri Lanka Poduja Peramuna (SLPP) supporters. They met PM at the Temple Trees this morning.
