Sri Lankan Cricket is going through a transition and they have been facing a hard time at the ongoing World Cup. But that doesn’t justify the game against India where SL was bundled out for a mere 55 which was only 5 runs more than their most embarrassing performance of 50 against India in the Asia Cup final. Currently, Sri Lanka is placed below Bangladesh with just 2 wins in 8 games. They were officially eliminated from the semis race.

Now, the latest news is that the entire Sri Lankan Cricket Board was sacked after the loss. Sri Lankan Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe made this bold decision to remove every member from the board. Ranasinghe then appointed a 7-member interim committee with former Sri Lankan legend Arjuna Ranatunga in charge.

This committee’s formation was made possible under the authority of Sports Law No. 25 of 1973. “I would like to emphasize that interim measures will only be taken to establish good governance principles,” said Ranasinghe in the statement.
