Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has replaced the allrounder Axar Patel in Team India’s World Cup squad. Initially, Ravi Ashwin was not picked in the 15-men squad that was announced before the Asia Cup. Axar Patel who was initially picked in the provisional squad hasn’t fully recovered from his left quadriceps strain. He suffered an injury in the Asia Cup match against Bangladesh on September 15th.

Ravichandran Ashwin who has replaced him has already traveled to Guwahati with the squad where the team will play the warm-up match against England on September 30th.

Ashwin was picked for the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia and played two of them. He took four wickets from two matches and grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Ravi Ashwin’s inclusion means Team India will now have an off-spinner on the side along with the left-arm spin option of Ravindra Jadeja and the left-arm wrist spin of Kuldeep Yadav. Other than this, there are no other changes in the World Cup squad.
