Veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Shri LK Advani will be awarded Bharat Ratna, the top civilian award of the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the news today morning. The Prime Minister met LK Advani and congratulated him at his house.
He wrote, “One of the most respected statesmen of our times, his contribution to the development of India is monumental.” LK Advani was an integral part of the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was a Member of Parliament (both houses) from 1970 to 2019. After 2019, he is staying away from politics owing to his age. In the past, he served as the Home Minister and Information and Broadcasting Minister.
LK Advani was born on November 8, 1927, and served as the President of BJP for the longest time since its inception in 1980. It was only recently that the Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Karpoori Thakur was announced for the Bharat Ratna and now LK Advani is the latest addition.
