Apple Inc. is in talks with OpenAI to use its generative AI technology in upcoming iPhone features. Discussions are ongoing about integrating OpenAI’s features into iOS 18. This follows a previous report about Apple considering Google’s Gemini chatbot for similar features.
Apple has not made a final decision and could partner with both OpenAI and Google or choose another provider. Compared to rivals like Microsoft and Google, Apple has been slower in adopting generative AI, which can create human-like responses.
Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned investing significantly in generative AI and will reveal more about their plans later this year. Both Apple and OpenAI have not commented on these discussions yet.
