Dubai Floods

The recent heavy rains that struck the United Arab Emirates (UAE) caused severe floods in Dubai and the surrounding regions. This incident recorded the highest rainfall ever in the UAE. The flood hit Dubai from April 16 to April 17, as the city got a year’s rainfall in just 12 hours.

The north and east regions of the capital, Abu Dhabi, are the worst-hit areas with the heavy rains. The rainfall ranged between 4 and 8 inches (100 and 200 mm). Some places even faced 10 inches of rainfall too. This is the largest rainfall in the history of Dubai.

The floods caused by this heavy rainfall in Dubai caused severe damage to properties and infrastructure. Many vehicles got submerged, and the rest were damaged, resulting in a severe impact on transportation. Major supplies like water, power, and communication networks were disrupted by this incident.

The major financial loss with this flood occurred to the tourism sector, which is a crucial part of Dubai’s economy. Many tourist attractions were closed, with no visitors coming over, keeping the conditions in mind. This is quite challenging for Dubai to recover now.
