Days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the United States, the Biden government eased the rules by releasing policy guidelines on eligibility criteria for those waiting for green cards which allows the other country people to stay permanently in the United States. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the US from June 21-24 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. They will host Prime Minister Modi at a state dinner on June 22.

During this visit, he will address the joint meeting of the Congress to be held on June 22.

The guidance issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regarding the eligibility criteria for initial and renewal applications for Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) under mandatory conditions is expected to help thousands of Indian technicians in their long wait.

Currently, a total of 140,000 green cards are being issued every year and of them, only 7 percent should be from the same country.
