The race for the next President of India is on. Yashwant Sinha and Draupadi Murmu are pitted against each other in the race to the top constitutional post in India. The counting of the votes started today at 11 AM and according to the latest update, the MPs’ votes counting has been completed.
Draupadi Murmu has secured 540 MPs’ votes with a value of 3,78,000, on the other hand, Yashwant Sinha secures 208 votes with a value of 1,45,600. Out of all the votes, 15 were invalid. Rajya Sabha Secretary General PC Mody has revealed the figures from the counting. He said to please wait for the next announcement.
With the MPs’ vote counting completed, counting of state votes, i.e., MLA votes will start now. It is all but confirmed that Draupadi Murmu is going to be the next President of India. Already the celebrations in her native village have started.
