Karnataka High Court has advised the students to wear religious garments to educational institutions to maintain peace and tranquility. This move has drawn protests all over the state. Now, this Hijab controversy has drawn international attention as well. After Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai called these protests horrifying, now Man Utd footballer Paul Pogba has shared an Instagram story where some Muslim girls were rounded by a massive crowd of boys and men who held saffron scarves.

Pogba wrote in his story, “Hindutva mobs continue to harass Muslim girls wearing Hijab to college in India”. He shared the 58-second long reel. In the video, a few other men held hands to form a barrier preventing the young girls to go anywhere.

Pogba is a French national and his mother is a Muslim. He began practicing Islam in 2019. The high court will resume hearing on Monday. The issue started when six girls from Karnataka’s Udupi district voiced their concerns after barring them from wearing hijabs.
