After Virat Kohli stepped down as India’s captain in all three formats, Rohit Sharma was made the captain. With him being the successor, it is expected that he will be in charge of the team in the matches. However, we have seen many captains for India in recent times. The likes of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan, and Jasprit Bumrah became the captains of India along with Rohit Sharma.

With India playing many matches, BCCI thought of rotating the players and sending a second string of players against weaker opponents. Hence, they are resting key players resulting in many captains.

Rohit Sharma after successfully leading India against West Indies in T20Is opened up about this aspect. He said that the IPL helped to a great extent to have many leaders within the group. He said, “It’s always a good sign. It creates players who can handle pressure situations better.”
