

Kolkata Knight Riders today named Nitish Rana the stand-in captain for the franchise as Shreyas Iyer, the designated captain is going to miss a few of the starting matches of this season owing to an injury. It is known that Mr. Iyer is suffering from a back injury and is now getting treated. Iyer suffered a relapse of a back injury during the fourth test in the BGT which India won 2-1.
KKR management is hopeful that Shreyas Iyer will return to the squad at some point in the season and hence named Nitish Rana, the 29-year-old flamboyant batsman as the stand-in.
Nitish Rana has experience leading the Delhi team in the domestic circuit. Nitish Rana has been with the franchise since 2018. He represented India in 2 T20Is and an ODI match.
KKR will start their title quest on April 1st with an away match to Punjab Kings.
