Kolkata Knight Riders batsman failed collectively which means they are now almost at the eviction from the playoffs race. They have only won four matches out of their 11 and all they can manage is 14 points if they win all the three matches. It can’t guarantee a spot in the playoffs. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants with four successive wins have almost confirmed their playoffs spot. They have even topped the charts.
Batting first, LSG has posted a good total of 176 on a slowish wicket. Though KL Rahul fell for a diamond duck, de Kock and Deepak Hooda gave LSG a superb start. Marcus Stoinis and Holder gave perfect finishing. They scored 30 runs of Shivam Mavi’s over which changed the fortunes for LSG.
Kolkata Knight Riders in their chase never looked comfortable. Aparjith fell for a Mohsin Khan special. All the pacers of LSG applied pressure on the KKR batsman to which they succumbed. Except for Russell, no other batsman crossed 40 which showcased the sad state of affairs.
