India managed to hold the nerves in a thriller against West Indies and thus they clinch the opening match. Losing the toss, India batted first. Dhawan and Gill gave India the perfect start. Both scored half centuries and Dhawan fell short of a century. Even Shreyas Iyer responded with a nicely crafted half-century. At one stage, India was coasting nicely for 350 but they fell short of expectations. India manages just 308 which is quite achievable in today’s game.
West Indies in reply has got the 1nice start as well. Though Shai Hope fell early, both Mayers and Brooks batted positively. At one stage, it seemed like WI will walk away with the game but Thakur scalped both the wickets. Chahal has taken two wickets as well.
West Indies though batted sensibly to take the game deep. In the last over, WI needed 15 but Siraj managed to hold their nerve, and thus India won the match by 3 runs.
