The Impact player rule has been introduced in the latest version of the Indian Premier League 2023. Many were quite enthusiastic to see how this will affect the game and we have seen that in the first game where a bad decision to have an impact sub for the sake of it could backfire.

Gujarat Titans used the impact player for the injured Kane Williamson. Sai Sudarshan replaced him and scored an impressive 22 runs for the side. However, on the other side, Chennai Super Kings brought in Tushar Deshpande in the place of Ambati Rayudu and it backfired badly. He gave away 51 runs in his quota.

By looking at the game, there is no need for CSK to use the impact sub-bowler as they have already impressive bowlers. There are Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, and Shivam Dube on the side but yet Dhoni chose the impact sub and it backfired.
