India’s equation is simple. They have to remove 7 wickets to whitewash the test series. It will be a phenomenal feat by Rohit Sharma, the new all-format captain for Team India. However, Sri Lanka is to climb a tall mountain if they have to achieve this. It is nearly impossible to chase 447 in the second innings that too on a pitch that is offering turn and bounce. Sri Lanka isn’t showing any fight in this series though.

On Day 2, India managed to post 303, where Rishabh Pant scored a quick-fire 50 and thus became the fastest Indian to score a test fifty, surpassing Kapil Dev. He scored fifty in just 28 balls. Shreyas Iyer has continued his good form. He scored 67 in just 87 balls. Small contributions here and there, took the total 303 for the loss of 9 wickets.

Sri Lanka has got to a shaky start as the opener Lahiru Thirimanne has gone for a duck. On Day 3, Sri Lanka started their innings positively. Kusal Mendis and Dimuth Karunaratne scored some timely boundaries and kept the scoreboard going. However, Ashwin and Jadeja removed Kusal Mendis, after a fifty, and Angelo Matthews in successive overs. Sri Lanka has scored 102 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.
