Australian regular Captain Pat Cummins lost his mother who has battled a prolonged illness. Cummins’s mother Maria was battling Cancer and she has breathed her last today. Cricket Australia has confirmed the same. It is known that Cummins had to miss the third and the fourth tests that Australia is playing versus Australia to attend to his ill mother.

As a mark of honor, Australian players are wearing black armbands on day 2 of the fourth test. Cricket Australia tweeted, “We are deeply saddened at the passing of Maria Cummins overnight. On behalf of Australian Cricket, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Pat, the Cummins family, and their friends. The Australian Men’s team will today wear black armbands as a mark of respect.”

Coming to the test, Australia is in the driving seat on day 2 as the total crossed 355 for the loss of just four wickets.
