Team India has clearly lost the plot in South Africa. They landed as the favorites in the Proteas land but the end result is completely different. India loses the test series 2-1 and now they lose the ODI series as well. South Africa seal a comfortable win in the second one-day international to take an unassailable lead in the series.

KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers gave a decent start. Though Dhawan and Kohli fell in quick succession, it is the partnership between Rahul and Pant that changed the dynamics of the innings. Especially, Pant has dictated the terms. Rahul through his reprieves has completed a half-century. Even Pant and Rahul fell in quick succession and then the baton was passed to Ashwin and Shardul who managed to take India to a respectable score of 287 in 50 overs.

In reply, South Africa was hardly troubled by the Indian bowlers. They lacked the punch and except Bumrah, Chahal no one seemed to be effective. Every batter looked confident in the South African camp looked confident. Malan and Quinton registered half-centuries. SA won the second ODI by 7 wickets.
