Veera Simha Reddy movie review – Routine Faction Drama

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s mass action entertainer Veera Simha Reddy got released in the theaters today amid huge buzz. Gopichand Malineni has directed the movie and Balakrishna will be seen in dual roles. Let us check out the review.

Story:

Veera Simha Reddy (Balakrishna) is a local leader in Pulicherla. He stands for his people and goes to any extent to protect his people. On the other hand, Jai Simha Reddy (Balakrishna), his son lives in Istanbul in a totally different world, with people, unaware of the current happenings in Pulicherla.

Veera Simha’s sister Bhanumathi (Varalakshmi) is against him and belongs to the rival group. Why did the sister go against the brother? Why do the father and son live separately? What happened in the past and what is the end of this story?

Performances:

This is a tailormade role for Balakrishna. As a faction leader, Balakrishna is powerful. He utters many powerful dialogues and is effective throughout. We have seen him like these roles in many other faction movies. Balakrishna is decent in the other role as well but Veera Simha’s character stands out. He is quite good in emotional scenes as well.

Shruti Haasan hasn’t got much screen presence. She is okay, and so is Honey Rose. Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar does well. She played the author-backed role. Duniya Vijay is effective as the main villain. However, his villainy is not well-etched.

The others have played their parts well.

Technicalities:

SS Thaman does well with his background music. He gave thumping music to the sequences. His songs are decent as well. He helped the film to get the required impact in the majority of sequences. Rishi Punjabi’s cinematography is top-notch. The production values by Mythri Movie Makers are excellent. The editing could have been better. The movie gives a lag feel at times. The action choreography is excellent.

Analysis:

Veera Simha Reddy is a routine faction entertainer. Right from Balakrishna’s dual avatar to the end, there are many routine sequences. However, the movie can’t be written off. It has some riveting action blocks, powerful dialogues, and quite a few emotional scenes as well.

Overall, Veera Simha Reddy can be watched once for its powerful setup. Balakrishna, SS Thaman, and Varalakshmi are the plus points for this movie.
