Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali – Not So Engaging

Sudheer Babu and Mohan Krishna Indraganti teamed up for the first time with Sammoham which was made in the film world. Now, their second film in this genre got released today, Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali. Krithi Shetty is the female lead of this project. Let us have a look at how the movie is.

Story:
Naveen (Sudheer Babu) is a commercial director who scores five back-to-back hits. He comes across the showreel by Alekhya (Krithi Shetty) and is keen to rope in as the female lead for his next.

However, Alekhya, an eye doctor, hates movies, and so are her parents. They are hell-bent not sending Alekhya into movies. How Naveen pursues her and what are the consequences form the crux of the story.

Performances:
Sudheer Babu plays the director on-screen. He is casual in the first half reminding him of Sammohanam times. During the second half, he is particularly impressive. He is good at emotional sequences.

Krithi Shetty has got a meaty role after Uppena and she is decent. She has done nothing wrong but her characterization has some issues. The chemistry between the lead pair is decent.

Srikanth Iyengar plays Krithi Shetty’s father and he is okay. Srinivas Avasarala is cool in a brief role. Vennela Kishore evoked a few laughs. The others are alright.

Technicalities:
Though the songs lack the magic of Sammohanam, Vivek Sagar’s music in Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali is passable. He did a decent job with the BGM as well. PG Vinda maintains the rich and classy look throughout the movie with his cinematography work. His framing is good as well.

Marthand K Venkatesh’s editing could have been better as some bore sequences can be chopped off. There are no problems with the production values.

However, the problem lies with the writing. Mohan Krishna Indraganti is a sensible writer and he comes up with a film genre. His story is simple. He has shown some sparks. The interval block has a nice twist. The entire second half could have been handled better. The concept is nice, but the execution falters.

Analysis:
Mohan Krishna Indraganti has picked up a nice concept. However, the narration is uneven. The tempo drops considerably and picks up in the next episode. The emotions connect to the audience but the uneven narrative plays the spoilsport.

Rating: 2.5/5
