It is known that the budget sessions have started in the Telangana Assembly without the customary Governor’s speech. Minister Harish Rao is introducing the budget in the Assembly. Three BJP MLAs who have tried to stop the budget speech have been suspended by Speaker Pocharam.
Here are the main highlights of the budget for the financial year 2022-23:
* As per the promise, CM KCR has increased the budget for the famous Dalit Bandhu scheme. The government has decided to allocate Rs. 17,700 Cr for this scheme.
* The government has decided to set up the first women’s university in the state. For this, it has proposed Rs 100 crore for this financial year. Another Rs. 100 Crores has been allocated to set up a new Forest University.
* The government has allocated Rs. 12,565 crores, Rs. 5698 crores, Rs. 177 crores for the welfare of STs, BCs, and Brahmins respectively.
* The budgets allocated for different welfare schemes: Pattana Pragathi – Rs. 1394 crore, Palle Pragathi – Rs. 3330 crore, Agriculture – Rs. 24,254 crores, Asara Pensions – Rs. 11,728 crores, Kalyan Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak – Rs. 2,750 crores.
* KCR government has been concentrating more on the double bedroom scheme for the poor. They have allocated Rs. 12,000 crores for the same.
* TRS government has decided to promote Palm Oil cultivation for this financial year. They have set up a target of Palm Oil cultivation in 2.5 lakh acres. For this, Rs 1000 crore has been allocated in this year’s budget.
* Rs. 7289 crores have been allocated for the scheme Mana Ooru – Mana Badi.
