Ravi Shastri, former India head coach, supports the controversial impact player rule in the IPL, despite facing criticism from fans and experts. According to him, this rule has made the T20 league more competitive and exciting. Shastri believes that as time goes on, critics of the impact player rule will reconsider its benefits.

Ravi Shastri mentioned, “The impact player rule is a positive change. Adaptation is key, and this rule has led to thrilling matches. Despite initial skepticism, the rule has proven its worth with close matches and players seizing opportunities.”
Introduced by the BCCI in 2023, the impact player rule lets teams swap an existing player with one from a list of five, enhancing tactical flexibility during matches. Although controversial, Shastri highlights its role in making IPL matches tighter and more engaging.
