USA’s Ex-President Donald Trump visited India in the year 2020. The External Affairs Ministry revealed that the government spent Rs. 28 lakhs for the two days trip of Donald Trump along with his family and the top officials from the ace nation.
A person named Mishall Bhathena filed a Right to Information query for the money the centre spent on Trump’s maiden visit to India. Bhathena didn’t receive any response after he filed the RTI on October 24, 2020. He then approached the commission, the highest authority in RTI matters. Citing COVID as the reason External Affairs Ministry submitted a document to the commission on August 4th, 2022. According to the report, the expenditures of Rs. 38 lakhs for the 36-hour-long trip include visits to Ahmedabad, Agra, and New Delhi between February 24-25, 2020.
Trump was accompanied by his wife Melania, daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner and several top officials.
