Here’s the good news for the Indians who are eagerly waiting for American visas. Due to the measures taken by the US, it is certain that 12 lakh visas will be granted every year from now on, says the staff of the US Embassy in India. A senior official stated that India is America’s top priority for the issuance of visas. By the end of 2023, Washington hopes to return the situation to the pre-COVID situation.
The United States is looking to launch multiple efforts including increasing the staff, expanding the drop box facilities, etc., as the visa wait time has been lengthy. The official said that the wait time has already decreased from 450 days to nine months for some categories.
Along with China and Mexico, India will be added to the priority list too, the official said.
