British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said that preventing illegal immigrants from reaching Britain is the first priority of the government. The issue of illegal immigrants was discussed in the British Parliament on Wednesday.

Britain has proposed a new law on Tuesday, according to which there will be a ban on asylum for those coming to Britain illegally. Under this law, such people who have come to Britain through illegal routes will never be able to come to Britain in future and will not be able to apply for British citizenship.

Giving information about this law, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, “I understand that there will be a discussion about this bill which will give tough measures. I can tell you that we have tried every method, none of the methods have worked. I say again, my policy is clear – this is your country, your government. You have to decide who comes here. No criminal gang can decide this”.

Under this law, people who are once deported out of UK will not be able to go to UK again nor will they be able to apply for UK citizenship. Those coming to the UK through illegal routes will be detained and for the first 28 days of detention they will neither get bail nor will they be able to demand a judicial inquiry.

There has been a huge increase in the number of people coming to Britain illegally. In 2018, the number of visitors to the UK via this route was around 300. At the same time, this figure had increased to 45 thousand in 2022. Britain is worried about the increasing number of illegal immigrants. Migrants from different countries of the world first reach France by adopting different routes and then reach Britain via boats via the English Channel which is between Britain and France which is about 40-50 miles wide.
