After the Presidential Commission’s recommendations, The White House is looking into it which states to cut the processing time for green card applications to just six months. They also look to clear the backlog of applications by April 2023 which could help hundreds of thousands of applicants, especially from India and China.

The President’s advisory commission released its inaugural report on Friday which states that because of COVID-19-related closures and staffing limitations as well as the continued effect of the 2017 travel bans, processing green cards up to the full potential is becoming difficult.
So the commission recommends the Department of State’s National Visa Center (NVC) should hire additional officers to increase the capacity to work at full cap potential.
The committee gas also stated in the report that Green Card visa interviews and visa processing timelines should be limited to largely six months.
