The United Kingdom New Prime Minister race is getting interesting. Out of all the candidates who contested for the PM role, Indian-origin Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss remain in contention. If Rishi Sunak manages to be the Prime Minister, then he will be the first Non-white, British-Indian, and Hindu Prime Minister.
The conservative party will now choose the next Prime Minister. More than 16,000 party members will now choose their leader through their postal ballot. The ballot will close on September 2nd and the next Prime Minister will be announced on September 5th, 12:30 PM.
Rishi Sunak has topped every ballot of the conservative MPs voting. If Rishi Sunak is chosen as the UK Prime Minister then the UK will become the 11th country where a person of Indian descent will be holding the highest position in the government.
