Sri Lanka had a better outing with the bat today. They showed the much-needed intent, that was missing in the first T20I, their opening gave a good start after ages, their firepower towards the end of the innings is blistering. But these factors couldn’t help high-flying India. The second T20 was won by India rather comfortably.
India has won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sri Lanka has started cautiously. They have scored only 32 in the powerplay but they hadn’t lost the wicket. At the end of the 16th over, Sri Lanka were 111/4 and 150 looked rather bleak as well. However, Pathum Nissanka and captain Dasun Shanaka had other plans. They scored 72 in the last 4 overs taking the score to a competitive 183.
India too didn’t start well. They lost Rohit Sharma early. Ishan Kishan too followed him after being hit on the helmet. The partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson is what changed the dynamics of the game. Their partnership took the game close and Jadeja’s brilliant knock sealed the things with 2.5 overs to spare. Shreyas Iyer scored 74 in 44 balls, Jadeja contributed 45 in just 18 balls, and Sanju Samson scored 39.
This was India’s 11th straight T20I win. With this win, they sealed the T20I series as well.
