The layoffs are continuing to worry the techies and other skilled workers. Not confined to one industry, almost all corporates are trying to reduce their workload. Including top companies like Amazon, eBay, and Microsoft, other companies like Block, Paypal, and Proofpoint have joined the layoff trend. As per an estimate, more than 29K jobs were lost in January 2024 alone.
Jack Dorsey’s fintech company Block, has laid off 1,000 employees or 10 percent of their workforce. Top tech company Wipro has also decided to lay off hundreds of their mid-level employees. Payment firm Paypal has also decided to lay off around 2,500 jobs. Also, Cybersecurity company Foolproof is laying off around 280 of its employees. eBay has also announced that it is laying off 1,000 of its employees.
As per the estimates, this layoff trend is going to continue for the coming months as well.
