It is known that India’s star opener Shubhman Gill has been diagnosed with Dengue and is currently sidelined. There is this fear of Gill missing out on the World Cup for a couple of games. He will definitely sit out in India’s World Cup campaign opener versus Australia. As of now, India hasn’t named any replacements. The management didn’t initiate the efforts as well.

The sources revealed that Shubhman began displaying symptoms of Dengue fever or infection on September 30th and rightly he informed the team doctor. He was taken for further tests in Chennai and it was confirmed that he had Dengue fever. The sources further state that Shubhman Gill luckily isn’t experiencing any extreme weakness or discomfort. His condition is being assessed.

Given the long tournament, the team management doesn’t want to risk him, and thus has been sidelined. He might even miss the second game against Afghanistan in New Delhi on October 11th.

With Shubhman Gill missing, India’s think tank is contemplating to field Ishan Kishan as the opener.
