London Marathon 2024

The 2024 London Marathon took place on April 21st and made history. A huge number of 5,78,374 people applied to join, breaking the Guinness World Record for the most applications in a marathon.

Kenyan runners did really well in the main races. Alexander Munyao won in the men’s race, while Peres Jepchirchir won in the women’s race and also set a new world record for women runners, finishing in 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 16 seconds. This new record doesn’t count races where female runners have male pacemakers.

Dr. Julie McElroy also made history by being the first female frame runner to finish the London Marathon, which took her 5 hours and 59 minutes. The marathon route went past famous London places like Buckingham Palace, Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, and Canary Wharf, making it a beautiful experience for everyone involved.

Unfortunately, not much of the British media covered this record-breaking event.
