Telugu Desam Party Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu was arrested today at around 6 AM at RK Function Hall at Gnanapuram in Nandyal town in an alleged Skill Development Scam. Considering the situation, several TDP leaders were kept under house arrest.

AP CID invoked Sec 12, 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (c) and (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1968 against him. Naidu was arrested under relevant IPC Sections including Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), and 465 (forgery). Also other sections like 166 (Public servant disobeying law), 167 (public servant framing an incorrect document), 418 (punishment for cheating with knowledge), 468 (creating a falsified document), 471 (Using as genuine a forged document), 409 (dishonest misappropriation), 201 (hides or destroys evidence of a crime knowingly), 109 (Punishment of abetment), r/w 34 & 37 IPC was registered against him.

Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corruption Case (APSSDC) was established in the year 2016 during the TDP regime and it was alleged that a scam worth Rs. 3,300 Crores happened and AP CID started digging deep. The investigation revealed that no proper tendering process was followed and also no project approval from the AP Cabinet.
