Guinness World Record was set on the International Yoga Day in Surat. The officials confirmed the news a while ago. A Yoga Day event was conducted at Surat today and it sets the Guinness World Record for the largest public gathering at a yoga session with 1,53,000 participants. The previous record for the largest yoga gathering was set in Kota, Rajasthan with 1,00,984 participants.
Recognizing the new record, representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records presented a certificate to Chief Minister Patel. The Yoga Day event was conducted in a strategic manner. Over 2,20,000 people registered online and the entry was through QR codes. The event had designated blocks and instructors. Each block accommodated 1,000 people. Across Gujarat, as many as 125 million people participated in the Yoga Day event.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel on this occasion announced plans to open 21 Yog Studios across the state to promote Yoga. The state government of Gujarat selected 75 iconic locations to celebrate Yoga Day.
