The Ministry of Civil Affairs of China has approved the renaming of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh. India considers these areas as part of its northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, while China also claims them as its own.

China claims 90,000 square kilometers of land in Arunachal Pradesh, while India says that China has illegally occupied 38,000 square kilometers of Aksai Chin in the west.

According to a report in China’s official newspaper Global Times, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China has approved the names of 11 places in Chinese, Tibetan and Pinyin languages. According to the report, these names have been changed under the rules of the State Council of the Cabinet of China. According to the report, China has changed these names in the ‘Shijang Autonomous Region of South Western China’.

India has rejected this effort of China outright. India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a statement, “We have seen such reports. This is not the first time China has made such an attempt. We reject it outright. Arunachal Pradesh has always been a part of India.” It is a part of India and will always remain an integral part of India. Efforts to change the name will not change this fact.”

According to the report of the Global Times, Chinese experts have called this step of China to keep the names of the places on its own as ‘legal’.

On Sunday, the Ministry of China has made this announcement to change the name by giving accurate geographical information about these places. Of these, two are residential areas, five are mountain peaks, two are rivers and two are other areas.
