Having won only one match in the previous two World Cups, no body couldn’t think more than that for Afghanistan in this edition’s World Cup. Afghanistan has now won three matches in six games and has kept their semis hopes alive. Afghanistan is currently placed fifth in the points table and this means if the team wins at least two of their remaining three matches then they have a fair chance of making it to the semis.
There was never a doubt about the quality of the Afghanistan batting. But this edition’s World Cup, it is their batting that is winning the matches. The record partnership against Pakistan and yesterday, the way they won over Sri Lanka, it was truly professional.
Afghanistan still has games against Netherlands, Australia, and South Africa. We have to wait and see how these matches will pan out and whether the team can make it to the semifinals.
