After winning against Pakistan in a comfortable way, India has lost its plot against New Zealand in the Women’s World Cup. Batting first New Zealand has put a competitive total of 260 in their total quota of 50 overs.
In reply, India has got a big jolt. As their start likewise in the previous match hasn’t clicked. India’s dashing opener Smriti Mandana fell for 10 in the sixth over. Even Deepthi Sharma, Yastika Bhatia couldn’t add more to the total. India further fell into deep crisis with the wickets of Mithali Raj and Richa Ghosh.
As the batting is slow as well, India could only manage to score 97 in the first 30 overs. Hadn’t it been Harmanpreet Kaur’s batting prowess, India would have been to a shameful defeat. Harman scored 71 facing 63 balls. Some small contributions from the lower order meant India could only manage 198.
Amy Satterthwaite has grabbed the Player of the Match as she is instrumental by scoring 75 runs in NZ’s 260. India will face the mighty West Indies next.
