The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup will be held in a T20 format. Sri Lanka will be the host to this much-anticipated tournament. The competition will start on August 27th and end on September 11th.
The five test teams – the hosts Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan are going to participate in the event. The sixth team will be decided with a qualifier round that starts on August 20th.
Asia Cup is a tournament that will be held alternatively in ODI and T20 format. The last time Asia Cup was held in ODI format and was won by India on the last ball defeating Bangladesh. 2020 edition was however postponed owing to the COVID. Sri Lanka was supposed to host the 2020 edition and they will now host this postponed event.
Pakistan holds the hosting rights for the 2023 edition. UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong are the teams that will fight out for the sixth spot.
