Before the start of the India Vs South Africa series, there are opinions that the young and inexperienced South African side will not stand a chance against the Indian side as they have a superb track record of late in overseas conditions. However, the scenario has completely changed now. They have lost the Test Series 2-1 and now they have even lost the ODI series 2-0 with one ODI left.

What really went wrong with the Indian Cricket Team? Here are the possible reasons.

1. Lack of inspirational captaincy:

Nothing to take away from KL Rahul but the inspirational captaincy and tactical moves we have seen over the last few years are definitely missing. ODI captaincy has been taken away from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has been handed over. However, an injury to Rohit Sharma meant that the captaincy in turn went to KL Rahul.

2. Middle Order crisis

This has been our major drawback that is hurting in the ICC tournaments. Now, it has been haunting in bilateral series as well. Shreyas Iyer is in bad form. Venkatesh Iyer’s experimentation hasn’t yielded results. Virat Kohli’s form has been a bit of a bother as well. India is also missing a perfect bowling all-rounder who can give a blistering end to an innings.

3. Spine less bowling

The world-class bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur have proved ineffective. They have hardly troubled South African batters in the two ODIs. Bumrah has been better in the second ODI, though.

While there might be other factors, these three will definitely stand out.
