England test captain Ben Stokes announced that he will be retiring from ODI cricket. His last match will be the 1st ODI vs South Africa which will be played tomorrow. Ben Stokes made this decision a while ago and revealed that it will benefit the team in the scheme of things.

He stated, “I will play my last game for England in ODI cricket on Tuesday in Durham. I have decided to retire from this format. This has been an incredibly tough decision to make. I have loved every minute of playing with my mates for England.”

Ben Stokes thanked the fans for their support. “England fans have always been there for me and will continue to be there. You’re the best fans in the world.”

The 2019 world cup hero said that three formats are just unsustainable for him now.

Ben Stokes represented England in 104 ODIs and scored 2919 runs. He took 74 wickets. SA’s match will be his 105th and the last ODI match.
