Director: Prashant Neel

The huge success of KGF Chapter 1 made the nation turn heads toward the Kannada industry, the focus is now on the second installment. KGF Chapter 2 has been released amid huge expectations. Rocky Bhai has returned to the screens to set them on fire.

Story:
The story of KGF Chapter 2 starts off where the first chapter ends. Rocky Bhai claims Narachi. Anand Vasiraju’s son Vijayendra Vasiraju continues to narrate the story of KGF. After claiming KGF, Rocky Bhai has bigger enemies to fight. Adheera (Sanjay Dutt) comes into the picture and if that is not enough, Rocky has now to fight it out with the Indian government as well.

How Reena (Srinidhi Shetty) has a role to play in this mix forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Yash as Rocky Bhai takes us to a different world. His swag and attitude are what we liked in Chapter 1 and this continued in Chapter 2 as well. However, there is nothing new he showcases in the second part. He continued where he left off. He presents heroism on a new level altogether.

Srinidhi Shetty had a minimal role in the first part. Now, she has got limited screen time but her role is critical towards the end. Prakash Raj has replaced Ananth Nag from the first part. Telugu audiences might certainly miss the Subhaleka Sudhakar’s dubbing for Ananth Nag. Prakash Raj is alright though.

Rao Ramesh and Raveena Tandon are adequate. Sanjay Dutt will be seen as Adheera. We expect so much from Adheera’s role but must say that it didn’t live up to the huge expectations. He is good though. Others have performed fine. The mother sentiment continues in the narrative and is crucial as well.

Technicalities:
Again, Ravi Basrur takes away the major share. The songs are powerful and the background score, though at times is loud, gives goosebumps moments. The cinematography by Bhuwan Gowda is just extraordinary. Hombale Films, production values are top-notch, to say the least. It is much more grandeur. There are at least 4-to 5 mega-scenes which would cost producers bomb. Editing is fine. The second chapter continues with a back-and-forth narrative and it helped the movie.

The writing is decent. The screenplay is, at times, convenient. Prashant Neel has however managed the good work from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2.

Analysis:
KGF Chapter 2 has huge action blocks. There are a couple of hair-rising moments which will make fans go frenzy. Especially, the post-interval block is massy and exceeds everyone’s expectations. The heroine’s role is better in the second part. Adheera’s villanism worked in parts. The political angle is well handled as well. Apart from some convenient scenes here and there in the name of heroism elevation, KGF Chapter 2 is sure to give a massy experience.

Rating: 3.5/5
